History Harvest: August 2016 Floods

Saturday, October 21, 2017 - 12:00pm to 4:00pm

On Saturday, October 21, researchers from UL Lafayette Department of History will be hosting a “History Harvest” in Denham Springs at the Denham Springs-Walker Library to collect oral history stories of community responses to the 2016 Floods. It is for a larger study on disaster response at the community level. We are looking for your memories of:

• where you were and how you were impacted by the 2016 Floods,
• how you personally responded or helped others after they took place,
• what sort of impact they had on Denham Springs and surrounding communities,
• and, how they compared to other disasters in Denham Springs history.

The oral history interview will take 5 minutes and will help provide valuable information on disaster response in Louisiana.

For more information on the “History Harvest,” please contact Dr. Liz Skilton, Assistant Professor of History, University of Louisiana at Lafayette, skilton@louisiana.edu.
